tour update, so far so fucked up

yo so we've been out since saturday when we made the trip to rock hill for the first show. met up with luke which got us all stoked and we were even more stoked to see the parking lot packed. tons of good bands on this show, surroundings, indifference, braindead, black birds, and our old buddies from way back iced x out. everything was going off for iced out when a fight broke out and literally the whole show was fighting, luke ended up gettin beat up pretty good and then another fight broke out outside when the owner of the place threatened luke's girlfriend and the owner ended up gettin taken out then the owner went to his car threatening to get a gun when the cops showed up. needless to say, the show got shut down, we didn't get to play, neither did luke's band, nations. check them out www.myspace.com/nationsnc so after that debacle, we went to luke's and hung out. yesterday was the wilmington, nc show at lucky's with the mongoloids, mother of mercy, troublemaker, at half mast, tons of other awesome bands. show went off well, mongoz played a good set kids went nuts. actually, so nuts that josh got moshed on, hard. he sucked it up and we went on about our shit, went back to lukes, crashed out, woke up got some taco bell and headed to columbia for the show today with soul control, i rise, and like wolves. our set went awesome, i was into it. josh was still hurtin real bad but powered through the set and we ended up taking josh to the hospital where he found out he has a broken jaw. crucial mosh casualty. he got some pain pills and some anti biotics so nothing gets infected and was told to stay on a liquid diet and ice his jaw, other than that, let it heal. so as a true man of the core would, we're stayin on tour and he's doin the rest of the tour with the broken jaw. so shitty personal luck so far, shows have been good though. so we'll see what the fuck else will happen, stay tuned

Baltimore hardcore

.... is on fire right now and our city wouldn't have it any other way. everyone that comes through recognizes and respects all aspects of our scene because fuck it's so diverse it pains me to think of being anywhere else. new bands have skyrocketed their way to the front of the scene becoming a regular name when your talking about hardcore in general. and not a single person in any bands around seem to only relish in that fact, instead it just continues on and we are not concerned so much about being apart of something big as we are just being there having a good time. you can see the jealousy and enthusiasm in peoples faces when you tell them where you're from but at the same time we sometimes come off as discontent with ourselves and it takes the music and an establishment full of friends and familiar faces to realize where we reaally want to be no matter what it takes. PRODUCT OF WASTE was so pleasing to watch last night, we had the chance to play with them in providence,RI. the thing i love about the most about this bands music is i think that we may share some very core beliefs (not hardcore, inner core) about society and its pigs. they're coming back to baltimore january 16th and i'll be there. this life is a war.... What needs to be said about TRAPPED UNDER ICE, we have known most of the members of this band for what seems like since we all picked up instruments and no matter what, it still gets me everytime they play. If they weren't a band, you know damn well all of them would still be out and about keeping their hands dirty in the voluptious baltimore scene! In regards to singing along to the last song i just couldn't get it together to scream into the microphone if that makes a lick of sense...so much respect and so much love there though. Last few days i have had an internal riot going on inside my head i'm fighting to stay on top of what's trying to drag me down, rather what WAS dragging me down... and fuck i'm so glad i can turn to heavy music to make me feel good again.

SHOUT OUTS: Gavin, Radell, Dick Chuck, Dan Klippa, Jusitce, Charles, Fat Jack, Asian Ryan, those dudes in altered state, Akil wit da hash, and everybody i don't see enough

this may have been a whack post to you but fuck it i wanted to write

HH/BL/MONY/RUINER/LD @ blonar

I went to the have heart/blacklisted/ceremony show last night at sonar downtown baltimore it was fucking awesome to see everyone from maryland there, baltimore aint nothin without its familiar faces. every band was fucking stellar. ruiner are friends of mine and those guys rage so hard on stage and rob sullivan has come a long ways in terms of his character. his approach hasn't changed a single bit but i think i like that guy more than ever. blacklisted tore up the stage with a set devoted towards the new LP and POEWOS. they're a band that fills my body up with rage everytime i see them play and i love it, i love all their releases and wish george and company 20 more album releases because i know they could manage that! ceremony, well they blister my brain into oblivion with emotions drawing from every single side of the spectrum and there are many. kids worship ceremony and it's very easy for me to see why. have heart was my favorite performance although i participated the least as i held up the wall during their set. pat flynn had many good things to say about things i have strong opinions on, regardless of HH being a straight edge outfit it is not hard for me to find some of myself in anybody especially the dark evil side we all to often welcome... i wanted to write about the show because i had such a great time and its good to know that i can have a good time at a show after playing a lot of shows and not feeling suffocated and i see a lot of other genuine cats that aren't letting being in a band stopping them from coming out to a show and raging. i love you all and i can't wait to see everyone

pleasae pre order our record @ deadtreathrecordings.bigcartel.com

youve got so far to go...

deadtruthrecordings.bigcartel.com props to everyone on this recent tour for helping us maintain our cool. slacking off currently at home dreading brick walls and block foundations. even hatred can be sturdy sometimes. this blog is underappreciated i've got a lot on my mind and i need to reflect instead of build it all up...our past our was a success through the eyes of a few im sure, i was happy- shit got frantic a few times over forgetting things at home and waiting to see if we are confirmed for shows. i'm really excited about the record and so is everyone else... the full length is looking to get recorded within the next 2 months we have a small amount of writing to do before we head in the studio

summers here, what the fuck are you gonna do? 5 YEAR ANNIVERSERY UPDATE

Approaching our 5 YEAR ANNIVERSARY that's right.. 5 years!!! 4/5 of the band is 21 right now so that takes us back to being 16 years old, and zach being about 13 years old.......knowing only people we had been friends with , not knowing a single soul within the realm of hardcore or heavy music, only bands locally like 'stars turn cold', 'roma delenda est', 'charly horse', of course good ole jean mills, the full catastrophe and the spark were the names that were familiar to us, the names of bands that we'd played along side and watched grow like we were trying to. sticking out like a sore fucking thumb at a constant pace both individually and as a band from the inception well into the duration of the band. we managed to keep our cool and never get to influenced by one particular topic, sound, genre, style, band... you get it. we ARE and will ALWAYS will be off the charts, but not above or below you, definatley right there beside you in a sense that again.. we were never run of the mill. you never knew what to expect out of us. on night we'd cover american nightmare(among a lot of other covers that none of you gave a fuck about), the next night we were groovin' our life away with the heaviest shit we'd ever written. we definatley set the bar for ourselves really high with some of the first touring we ever did. our eyes were wide the entire time and we were rolling our jaw's back up in awe at the reaction out of state we had never once received at home in Maryland. Thus... our LUST for the road became a fucking REALITY. the road began to lust for us and we have put ourselves in the position to be able to play shows out of state as OFTEN AS POSSIBLE. this was the time 2005-2006 when bands like diamonds in the rough, carol, on broken wings were what was up! we've played and attended said bands shows but we never felt like we fit the mold. our first show at ten car pile up was out there... of course after our set countless people saying "you guys were fucking awesome, why wasn't anybody moving around" well...ask your fucking self that, i'm sorry the band's got you in a fucking daze and all you can do is stand there and try to figure out what the fuck is going on, on stage and in your head. FAST FORWARD TO 2008, WE ARE STILL FUCKING HERE. we have provided the same attitude all of these years in that we do not apply ourself to one demographic. and for the kids that are in it for the soul swallowing hardcore stylee you can go fuck yourself because hardcore is apart of you, you are not apart of hardcore and you weren't around for us before so don't come around for us again. we've made a lot of friends and we couldn't be more happy to feel apart of the history in maryland, baltimore and literally all surrounding areas(YES YOU ARE ALLOWED TO DRIVE MORE THAN 30 MINUTES TO A SHOW). relationships are growing as the band see's friends joining other bands and playing out and getting heard, this was never a popularity contest and i don't really think anyone see's it that way.. there will be no ass kissing or dick riding, we were never fucking about that, the proof is in the pages of our story that we're here to stay. that we never sold ourselves short with the up and coming. we invested all we got into what we know that we firmly love. rock and fucking roll baby.

WITH THAT BEING SAID...... we have a few upcoming shows and our friend Sean Thorton , of Berkely school of music FAME(lol but seriously) will be filling in on the beaters(for your squares thats the DRUMS). and hopefully joining us in our two week treck of the south and the northeast while we stop home to play the cold world/iron age/trash talk tour. Steve is out of surgery and is currently layin sloppy style on his bed hooked up to a machine all zonked out to keep him from realllly feelin' the surgery. look for his presence in mid july as he'll be around but he has to attend physical therapy in order to keep himself tip top.

i'm doing guest vocals on a song called "FUCK JUNKIE" thats going to be on the newly recorded BISHOP record. and our record will be dropping in august so look out for a release date and a release show to be announced....

oh yeah, summer's here what the fuck are you gonna do?

Diamonds in the rough(no, NOT jack's old band!)

So joe has sent us the first mixes of the 5 new tracks we recorded with him a few weeks ago and i am ecstatic. i knew they sounded great because we heard them in the studio and we dont really need heavy mixes/producing to carry our sound so it's just the very fine tuning we will be paying attention to, like drum hits and standout parts, etc! Joe Mitra did an EXCELLENT job at recording us and all around just being able to handle and deal with Alarmed in a manner to enable us to record equally as excellent. I'm really pleased with Huge Leaps & Mouthbreathers - two relatively old songs that we breathed some life into and i'm very happy we did so. at first we were skeptical about putting Huge Leaps on the 7" but much like the story to that song, it's ended up rearing its fierce head over the course of it's existence. Mouthbreathers was given an intro/interlude almost and adds variety. I'm stoked on these fucking recordings....without giving too much away i just wanted to talk a little bit about the shit you think you will hear when you listen. I am still working on the layout and some shirt designs. Getting around to posting pics soon

Recording and the record that's coming out..

So we spent approximately 4 days with Joe Mitra at the makeshift wired wrist studios(new location tba!) Joe is simply fucking AMAZING to work with, we have only worked with about 2-3 engineers in our day and i use that word loosely because some were just dudes pressing the record button and the rest was all self recorded which can be kind of tough. Joe Mitra was as excited as we were about what was coming out of the speakers which in return made us very very stoked. We recorded 5 songs for our debut self titled E.P. i've concluded that this IS our debut 7" and that we have put out plenty of demo's and while they haven't flopped, they were all self released with zero distribution so if you weren't a pal of the band you probably have never even heard it. (unless you bought a copy on tour, i believe we sold 90 out of 100 on a month long summer gig tour).

ALARMED - alarmed
dead truth recordings 08

a side
1. the moon life
2. chill pill
3. huge leaps

b side
1. mouthbreathers
2. brainwarshed

this should be due out the first of the summer if not earlier... album art work will be done by yours truly, don't expect anything crazy, just a very good looking modest first contribution to record collectors everywhere. you will also be able to acquire this digitally. i'll post a few pictures soon.

'08 TOUR Re-CAP (part 4)

so before all of this slips away, i really need to finish. if i don't finish i will be pist. We were supposed to be recording the remanider of this week, however the engineer's MAC power supply blew up. We are reschedualing as soon as humanly possible. Now for the rest of the shows, BREIFLY AND LESS OPINIONATED.

January 13th - Southgate, MI @ The Modern Exchange

On this day we sat around and watched NCAA basketbal in Findlay, OH with some friends. It was raining and weird outside. Showed up to the gig after getting lost for only a few minutes and the place is rather chill. First band is already playing, this band is All Hype from Detroit, Michigan. Detroit has a lot of suburbs that prefer you call them by the name, for what i guess is to not feel shame and say they live in Detroit city. I know that we played next and it was raining so we were figuring up load in. The place had a bay to back into and they closed garage like door and we were inside a building unloading. Shout out to Plague Years for the PBR. We played and i fell alot, i mean a lot- more than i've fallen probably on a month+ long tour. At least 3 times within a few minutes. I don't really know why. From what i heard i looked like a total idiot on stage, whatever i was "feelin' it", suck me. Kids went off and had about as much fun as i did, not a lot of bands seem to look like they're feelin that way when they play these days(blah blah blah)Plague Years played, i liked it. Show over, went out to eat, i stayed and did vocal practicies in the van for about 30 minutes(no homo?) my throat felt shitty and i dont like not being able to talk after shows because i am down for conversation. Got a hotel room, crashed out.

January 15 - Normal, Il @ Das Fun Haus

3 band gig, with Waster and Surroundings. good to see Gavin, Josh and Joe from back home and hearing about stories from out west. Shout out to tim and joey for the amazing hospitality and to the dude who made coffee in the morning. The kids were real good here and from what i heard from a few people usually the place has twice as money people but i don't know how that was a small space. We played decent kids were nice, i know were a little harder to stomach than the norm. Surroundings played after us and gavin had fucked up his leg and actually went to a hospital in CA i believe to get treated. Needless to say he was still doin the damn thang. We slept at the house and bailed the next morning.

January 16 - Milwaukee, WI @ The Borg Ward

CANCELED! can't have shows in below zero weather with no heater

January 17 - Minneapolis, MN @ The N.E.L.C

This show was awesome, shout out to COWARDS and LUMBERJACK. We should enough shirts to make us happy this night. We were able to eat applebees.

- - after this we hopped on the counting the days/hollywood weekend due to our shows going under. Hollywood dropped we took their place. We played Chicago, Detroit & Columbus. All the show's were great and turned out very nicely, although playing The Trap House without a heater was devestating, Triceratops dudes holla!

'08 TOUR Re-CAP (part 3)

Jan 1 - Richmond, VA @ Juice Tyme Basement

So the shows for the previous 2 days bombed and are now irrelevant to this blog as it's a tour update not a , lack-of-tour update. Through poor planning and probably a lot of laziness New years eve and new years eve eve were spent on the road without a show either night. We had planned the tour up to the 4th of the month but never got around to it. Packing up at lukes and driving really slowly to richmond is pretty much what went down. On the way we felt our show was in jeopardy because of a lack of P.A. or something of that nature. The show was schedualed at Ramakin's, however there was a house show down the street with Harms Way from chicago and richmond locals Juice Tyme. We played first, this dudes basement was small, we have played some small basements, but this shit was crazy small. Lane and I made our way to the corner store liquor spot right around the corner, i was thristy so i grabbed a 24oz of red stripe. it was really cold out in richmond that night. we played solid as possible, sounded crazy in that little room. all i remember is me trying to turn on the ceiling fan during our set and it didn't work. Our richmond homies Original Sin played after us and the hard pressed, solid. Goodtimes seein those dudes around. All i did after our set was freeze my ass off. Our house to sleep at fizzled out and we went to a sit down Sheetz with Paul white and the dudes. First time ive experienced sheetz with a dining area, this is the next best place if Wawa isn't around(holler!) Drove home to maryland that night, don't remember much from the drive. Shout outs to Steve "drive all motherfuckin' night" Barker.

We played one local show Jan 4th with Miami's Thick As Blood, shout out to Scott for that one. You weren't there.

January 12th - Cleveland, OH @ The Brothel

Was stoked for this show, clevo is not far surprisingly. Rolled up to an area bordering a great lake in the winter time. It's rather chilly as we arrive. Roll up in the cut to this place called the Brothel, DIY space that just opened up with the help of some dudes living upstairs. right off the bat i see a lot of shit i like. i see an awesome ass blacklight weed poster on the back of the bathroom door, more like bathroom gate. Peeped in the stalls with no doors, checked out some nice nudes on the wall, strictly lesbo. Then i look up and i see Pauly boy from Meltdown fame.. we have played a few shows with this dudes' band. Don't front though we've had some sick shows with these guys, with bands like trash talk back when nobody was comin' out. So fuck you, slacker! Dude was there with Attitude/Forfeit catchin' a ride home to syracuse in a couple days. Pauly is a good dude and it's nice to see him around(and to what you said yo, hardcore is not dyin!) check his band out. All in all i dug this place and was way into it. 1 or 2 bands played before us that i dont remember the name of. right off the bat we waste no time playing, as every band should. I draw blood within minutes on my hand, it's pretty fucked up i dont know what happened but whatever i think zach and I had been drinking in the van prior. Clevo's fuckin liquor stores, WOOOO-O. had zach stay with the van for that one. I think 1 dude moshed hard but we we're recieved decently and nevertheless it was all good in the hood. Forfeit played next, good solid heavier vowel-howeling melallic stuff. They had some new shit that was off the hook, total Sabbathy slow groovy shit, it was word. Attitude played, we packed our shit up and got the fuck up out of there, it was late as hell and we had to drive about 2 hours to the place we were staying. We ended up getting there at 3am, partied until about 6 and couldnt fall asleep too much because girls that snore are somethin' else. Thanks for letting us crash though, and making us pancakes. Today we played detroit, it was weird outside.

post more later

07-08' TOUR Re-CAP(part 2)

Dec 29 - Myrtle Beach, SC @ The Sound Garden

I don't really remember a lot about this day but i know we drove from Charlotte, which didn't take very long at all. I also remember it raining a bunch on the way to Conway and the windshield fogging up a bunch which was pissing us off/putting us in danger haha. Showed up to the lower warehouse to a few kids, and a band that half their shit set up. Hard Pressed arrived before we did but hadn't loaded in yet. I do remember being somewhat groggy by the time we got to the show. Tossed the pigskin around a little bit, stretched my limb's and felt good to go. Saw a few dudes carrying the P.A. out the door and being the stand-up dude i can be i asked what was up because people got curious. Apparently the fucking sound guy didn't have a microphone, and pretty much has defeated his own purpose by his lack of responsibility, what a fucking step backwards that was. He is the resident sound guy for the lower warehouse as well. All that bitching about ethics aside...i had my own microphone AND cable with me, (as any/every person that may have to use a microphone during their own bands set,) should have. I started bringing my own for a few reasons.
1. to prevent incidents like this from happening
2. to be prepared faster
3. i caught a staff infection from using a previously designated mic, wherever it was we were playing i'm not sure
4. so if i break shit, at least it's my own(or a fellow bandmates shit, which will less likely result in serious conflict in extreme cases)

moving on, the sound guy packed up his shit and ducked out with his tail between his legs pretty much. if it were my guess it was because he forgot shit and felt very embarassed, or at least he should have. as a result of this, in short, i bugged one of the other bands that were looking to get on a show in myrtle beach and hard pressed and us ended up able to play. the show was going to be a late show at the club since one was going down already. the name of the bands playing escape me but i know someone else from the band knows. Super cock rocknroll covering foreigner, journey, the crue and the like. both those bands did. the later band's vocalist/guitarist was talented in the perspective he could scramble around the fret board with ease but his stage presence made me tune out and head for the door. we played first i think and it was pretty solid. our roadie lane was buying shot's at the bar all night. it's still weird to be 21 at a bar. All i remember after our set was it being about 1:30 in the morning and that it was pretty cold outside when i passed out in the van. Woke up at like 6:00am and freaked out, i didn't know where i was. called everybody trying to find out which fuckin' house i'm gonna finish up sleeping at.

another one later today...

'07-'08 Tour Re-CAP

I'm going to Forge a few posts here by doing a recapture of the last tour. We had initially planned to venture out west this January, but steve got into a serious accident and in order for everything with him to turn out O.K. he has to follow through with some physical therapy visits. We cut shit down into reality and did what we could with the amount of time we had between visits...
Went like this-

December 27 - Virginia Beach, VA @ Gil's Bar&Grill

At this point we pretty much were expectation-less for lack of better words since we only played from now until New Years day. We showed up forty-five minutes before the show started but it was an hour and a half past the designated load-in so all the other bands went through 5 boxes of fucking pizza. Assholes. Gil's is a decent place to have a show if there's nowhere else to get down. This literally was my first bar show being 21(be surprised how many non bar venues ACTUALLY exist eh?) i was stoked. Ordered a 'weiser since there was no Blue Moon or High Life. Moutheater & Moral Dillema played first check both bands out, our bud Ben plays drums in the 2nd band. We played next, solid set, i tripped and fell i think only once but i got an anonymous tip that we pummeled through I Rise & Maintain's merch table. Either way, i saw a circle pit, i was into it. We played solid i was really stoked and shit, i wish justin was there. I am always too burnt after we play to watch probaly the next 2-3 bands, i did manage to enjoy Ruiner's set from a chair in the back though. It was there first show of their winter tour as well. We got somewhat shorted but i think we had the best reaction of the night. Went back to Ben's and made way to much sketti, talked some shit and then fell asleep.

I will update the following days soon, the first day is usually the one involving most thought...i'll get to the other dates soon.

Dec. 28 - Kernersville, NC @ Creations Skatepark

So after we tied a make-shift cock&balls to the back of Ruiner guys' trailer and put a few pieces of smutty porn on their windshield we rolled out of Ben's house and we needed to get our oil changed so we headed to our Wal Mart...where we and i think a lot of bands stop to buy whatever the fuck it is that we might need...(if you can't beat 'em, join 'em! but for real fuck wal mart). Got our oil changed and bought a bunch of fucking doughnuts for no reason and they were all delicious. We paid to get that oil changed and peaced out. Got to the venue, it was raining but not too bad, until we decided to bring equipment in when it started pouring. LOJ dropped the show and joey said they went to south florida to kick it all week before this is for you fest. Hard Pressed, the band we were doing the dates with played before us, i hope it wasn't because we were running behind. Dudes played solid...heavy balls, they covered "Into The Void" - by Black Sabbath and i couldn't believe that shit, all i wanted to do was headbang. I was so fuckin syked. We played our best set @ Creations we've ever played and we have played there 3 times before. Sounded real heavy some kids looked confused, some kids felt it. Some kids just played dumb. Either way had a good time, cut the set short because Hard Pressed went over on time, no sweat though! I don't care, we dish out tardy behavior left and right so we can deal. Triac made me feel like my brain was exposed to direct source of hatred. Ruiner did well and i saw a lot of kids faces that looked like they were getting really emotional. Bugged them enough to get a free limited run poster. Didn't stick around for Pulling Teeth's seti went to the liquor store to try and get some captain morgan but you can't buy liquor past 9 in North Carolina... drove back to lukes. settled in for like 10 minutes and then right back out the door a few roads over to party at Grant and Muchods house. Lots of nonsense, satanic airhorns, played some cards, shot the shit. chilled out and ended up walking back to Luke's and then taking anothet trip up the block out to the YMCA bus yard to piss all in the back of bus, throw empty beer cans everywhere and smoke the place out. How fucking ignorant.

FIRST POST

I've decided to start a blog over this band, in an attempt to bring news and information about Alarmed from the minds and eyes of the band. post's including, but not limited to; tour highlights, people we've met, reviews of bands we feel neccesary, links to exclusive serious internet business, studio updates and all that jazz. Just something to keep track of this band, so we can put ourselves in check later down the road of how it's really going down.
